So Covid-19, you suck. Everything about what you’ve been trying to prove, you’ve proven. People dying, business’ collapsing, the whole world in a state of panic. Congrats. We are all one big hot mess and nobody knows what they’re doing. And now, mom and dad have gone to Hawaii. Sigh.
I love good skin. I love a good sweat. I love a good book. A long bath. A walk alone. A girls night out. And yes, I do love a good vacation, sans kids. This may sound selfish. Or conceivably self love overkill. Maybe even self righteous. Too much self. But what about perhaps the concept of self care? Hmm. Is that the thing? And what if that thing, is everything? It got me thinking. Hard. And there it was, like in block bold script on my blank page. Self care is the new black.
My Grandma was a widow. Lost her husband when she had 5 kids, one being a six month old. And on a week recently where I felt overwhelmed, I thought of her. And I thought, how. And also the woman I met at the grocery store yesterday. She said she had 3 kids who were getting big. Almost to high school. And I said “y’all must be so excited lol!” She smiled and said , “Well, I am. have a great day.” And she got my groceries in my cart and smiled, loving on my babies on the way out
