HOW NETFLIX AND CHILL SAVED MY MARRIAGE

"What is Netflix and chill?" I say to my best friend who has a teenager. "Oh you know, sex and Netflix. I'm sorry, come again? What planet am I living on? That is brilliant! Well, good to know. Thanks for filling me in." Period, end of conversation. Turns out it started years ago with a twitter hashtag and is a viral meme used by all the millenials, but this silly American slang term to the married with babies "me" got me thinking. It got me reminiscing. And the butterflies from memories of days gone by sifted over my forehead like a cool ocean breeze. You see, those days are gone. Or are they?

ALL THE REASONS WE LOVE BACK TO SCHOOL + THE ONE REASON WE DON'T

I don’t know about you. But I’m thrilled the school year is starting. It bringsa sort of renewal to the end of the year. A sort of re-start if you will, or re-set. It’s schedules, packed lunches, early bedtimes, drop offs, pick ups, and an organized kind of chaos that puts us all in a bit of order. It's routine. And mandatory, not optional. And although, the early bedtimes, mean perhaps a glorified bath with a glass of wine and a good mud mask for mom, the mandatory part of the equation puts a damper on my heart. And I’m pretty sure I’m not the only mother who feels this way.

WAITRESS

My first customer was Jerry Seinfield. My first regular was Jennifer Aniston. My first Bordeaux was with Johhny Depp. Yes. With. Somewhere between learning about French wine and the Iranian princess life, I also learned the road map to life, while gaining one of the best friends I've ever had in my life. For this, I am crazy grateful.
