MY DAD IS JACK PEARSON

My Dad is Jack from this is us. The man we can't stop talking about. The man who everybody relates to in a I wanna be like him kind of way. The strong, the steady, the pleasing. The loving. Jack, is my father.

If you take away the alcoholic part and the he died after the fire part, he is still my Dad. And in realizing this while sobbing through the super bowl episode, followed by last night, I realized why this realization matters. Why this show is so important. And not just to me, but to 40 million viewers.

LESSONS IN LIFE, AND IN DEATH

I don’t know if it was Martin Luther King’s “I have a dream” speech that I watched on Monday, or the sudden death of Dolores from the Cranberries (band), or the passing of my great Aunt at the glorious age of 97, but my breath was lost this week on the lessons in life, and in death.

Death is sad. Sometimes I’m afraid of it if I’m totally being honest. But mostly, it’s eye opening. And heart opening. Remember when I mentioned my heart being opened by the best cardiothoracic surgeon on the planet? That’s what happens in the beauty of life, and the sadness in death. Or so I've learned.

FA-LA-LA-LA-FINISH-IT

I'm a wee bit hungover this a.m. But I deserve it. See my insta stories for proof. Anyway, on the contrary, I don't know about you, but I'm freaking excited. It's almost Christmas. And no, I'm not going to cry that it's almost here and over, I'm going to rejoice that a week from today, I'll be in my sweats with my kiddos and husband and nowhere to go but here. This year has gone by so fast and I'm ok with it because I feel ready for what's ahead. But enough of that, here's a few items for your husband to buy you because we know he always waits to the last minute. Also a few items for the littles and the cutest coffee mugs for your kids teachers, the bus driver, the pre-school teachers, your pilates instructor,  you name it.
