PRICE OF A MEMORY

I’m so done mamas. I’m tired. It’s been a month. If i could stretch that word out like taffy I would. Because it’s long. And I’m done. It also feels like winter. Last night was Halloween and trick or treating in the frigid cold while blowing my nose with my freezing hands was work. It wasn’t exactly easy this year. I’m sick. The kids are sick. And in truth, it’s ALWAYS something. But with every fall, comes the change. Change of weather, change of scenery, change of health. And if I”m honest, I’m fine. It’s silly even to mention I’ve been battling a 2 week cold on top of kids having strep throat, a stomach bug and an unpleasant unplanned oral surgery for me this month. It’s a lot. And I can handle it. But showing up for the trick or treaters and making a memory all comes with a price. And from my point of view it’s incredibly worth it. And here’s why.

WHEN THEY SAY YOU HAVE YOUR HANDS FULL

I was at the dentist this week for the 4th time in 2 weeks and needless to say, it’s been a little crazy lately. But as I was getting the numbers for some dental/ortho work going on for our family, I joked to the dentist and said, “It’s about time I go back to work. For real.” He smiled at me as my two toddlers wrestled on the dental office floor, and said “You have your hands full. You have forever to work. Enjoy them.” I smiled like I always do when someone says to me “Wow, you have your hands full.” We payed our bill, and walked out. And I woke up this morning and had a thought. And this is how it went.

FALL, YOU'RE MY FAVORITE

Having a birthday is kind of like being re-born. Ok, so it’s not exactly the same, but if you sit back and relax and soak in the glory of another trip around the sun, it’s pretty cool. And telling. And sometimes you have a good cry. And you’re somewhat awakened by all the new discoveries of life. And that means, perhaps a new you. I like this about birthdays. And upon reaching my birthday this week, I took it upon myself to dig into goals, pizza because why not, a new hat because skin protection is my number 1 in aging, and the rest of my favorite things for fall.
