CRUSHING ON VELVET & LIPSTICK

I like it when I get to go out. Which isn't always. Especially night time. And because it's still winter and because I'm a girlie girl, I'm crushing on velvet. And hot pink lipstick too.

I bought this blazer at Bloomingdales ions ago and I pulled it out of my closet this week in a rush to a date with the hubby. It's black, it's velvet, it's sexy. It works. When you're in a pinch and you're not sure what to wear, and it's nippy outside, throw on one of these with some denim and booties and instantly, you're fabulous. The hubby thinks so too. And add a hot pink lip to your face and wallah, it's like early Valentine's up in here.

Here's a few of my picks (below) of my favorite velvet blazers and a velvet jacket I'm crushing on and need to buy before it turns 100 degrees in Tennessee. P.S. velvet always comes back around, so if you invest in one of these pieces, you won't be throwing it out any time soon.

"Add some color to your face Maile!!" says my Mom, every day of my life. So there's that. And well, I do wear black and white as my daily uni, or grey and occasionally navy, so maybe she has a point. And Nars matte lipstick in Greta has me all kinds of feeling frisky. Turns out Lip wear is important. Mom was right.

There's velvet everywhere, jumpsuits, vests, shorts, you name it, but I like to keep it simple: denim and a velvet blazer. Add a pop of color with some lips and boom.

Also, how are we almost to Valentines? But if we are, then I get to have wine. So yay!!! That will certainly help the making of all my daughter's valentines for all her kindergarten friends that all her kindergarten friends will likely throw away. Awesome.
